Rather than putting up yet another sign on the beach, we are now pleading with you to please pick up your dogs poo and dispose of it correctly.
There have been numerous complaints. Like most things, a small minority is making it hard for the majority, so if you see a dog owner not attending to their friends number 2, please politely let them know. We understand that many owners will be gazing romantically out to sea, and sometimes they might not see their furry friend dropping a poo, so in most cases it is accidental – please be polite in all dealings, and dog owners, please accept that people are only trying to keep the beach clean.
With summer beach restrictions coming up (no dogs on beach between 9am and 7pm), it will be good to see the beach free of dog poo.
Just to summarise, It is NOT OK to:
1. Throw the poo into the dunes, or beside a walkway.
2. Leave the poo on the beach. Can all owners please pick up their dogs poo and dispose in the bins. If a bin is not available, take it home and dispose of it in your rubbish.
3. Throw the bag of poo into the sea – this will either wash back up on the beach, or maybe even harm some poor wildlife.
3. Walk 200 m in front of your dog – please try to keep an eye on them at all times – if you cant see them, you might not see them drop a poo.
Cmon dog owners, the onus is on you to lift your game and do the right thing. The last thing anyone wants is a reputation as the “local poo dropper”, so lets work together and get poo off Omaha Beach!
