North West bank regeneration – Auckland Council are currently going through a consent application process (yes to themselves) for the removal of the pine trees. Technical reports are being done as we speak. This seems to be a far more convoluted process than originally thought, with special consideration needing to be made as to the types of native plantings that will be put in to support the area. Watch this space for updates but we won’t see anything happening until at least 2017.
Local planting day – Big thanks to Rob Zubielevitch and his lovely wife Marina for taking on the bulk of the planting in the northern end recently. Council provided some 200 plants for our use, bringing a total of over 4000 plants over the last 3 years planted in the southern end. Thanks also to the local residents who stepped up and helped plant the excess they noticed.
