We have received the following email from Beth Houlbrooke, Chair – Rodney Local Board.
Dear community groups
Auckland Council’s Development Contributions policy is under review and open for public feedback.
Development contributions recover the costs of infrastructure from developments that are enabled by, or benefit from, council investment.
The contributions policy sets out the infrastructure council will fund with development contributions and how they will share those costs fairly between developers.
The 10-Year Budget adopted in June this year updated council’s investment plans. It includes a major increase in commitment to deliver the infrastructure required to support Auckland’s growth.
To support the 10-Year Budget, council are now consulting on the draft Contributions Policy 2019.
Key proposed changes:
- Cost of development contributions
- Unit of demand factors
- Extending the timeframe for payments.
- Development type definitions
- New and changed funding areas.
Your feedback will help shape the council’s decision on the final policy which will be made in December. You can have your say from 19 October to 4pm on 15 November 2018.
