Hi, everyone – on behalf of our friends at the Warkworth Area Liaison Group, please see the details below about the public meeting to be held on 16th September and their letter Notice re Public Meeting
Warkworth Liaison Group (WALG) is a group of very experienced professional engineers, planners and others who are very concerned about the nature of the planned growth of Warkworth and District by Auckland Council. Such growth will increase the current population of the town and district by 5 times over the next 30 years. Such growth will be at a much higher density which will have significant effects on its landscape character, on water resources, on the ability of infrastructure (roads and services) to cope with even over the 30 year period.
To make matters worse, developers are pushing to get considerable new housing areas in over the next 5 years through a series of Private Plan Changes to Council’s Plan. There are already major problems with under capacity services and inadequate roads to cope with this additional demand. Do your members fully understand the implications of such proposals and the serious changes that will occur to the character of Warkworth district
WALG has organised a Public Meeting at the Town Hall on the 16th September at 7pm, at which the overall picture will be made to clear to you through a visual presentation. WALG invites you all to come along to learn and indicate what your concerns and vision might be for Warkworth’s future.
Peter Sinton (Chair, WALG)
