Auckland Council Consultation on Storm Resilience and Civil Defence Emergency Management Group Plan

Throughout August we are asking Aucklanders for their feedback on our plans for major investment in Tāmaki Makaurau to help recover from the extreme weather events that took a major toll on the region in 2023.

Our Storm Recovery and Resilience Consultation asks for feedback on:

• The Tāmaki Makaurau Recovery Plan: to understand Aucklanders’ experiences of extreme weather earlier this year, and their needs and aspirations for recovery and resilience.
• Making Space for Water: to comment on a series of stormwater projects that will reduce future flood risk. You can read about these projects in the plan (PDF 4.49MB), page 6 onwards.

There are a lot of hazards which could affect Auckland, such as earthquakes, flooding, tsunami and many more. These hazards can affect all of us and it is important to be prepared for disasters to help us get through.

Council is reviewing our Civil Defence Emergency Management Group Plan. The plan describes how we work with our partners and the community to prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters. It also sets the direction for our work on Auckland’s Civil Defence Emergency Management system.

We would like your feedback on our approach to building resilience in Auckland’s Civil Defence and Emergency Management system over the next five years.
