The OBC Committee has been working alongside our friends at Northland Waste regarding Auckland Council’s changes to our rubbish collections (as from 1 September 2025). Northland Waste has been contracted by the Council to continue providing our weekly rubbish collection services.
Please note the following:
– Northland Waste’s plastic rubbish bags will be phased out following the introduction of the Council’s new service in September 2025. The Northland Waste plastic rubbish bags can still be taken to their Transfer Station on Sandspit Road at any time at no additional cost.
– The Council will provide each property with a new rubbish wheelie bin (or a supply of Council plastic rubbish bags, if requested by the property-owner).
– Council’s rubbish wheelie bins and Council’s plastic rubbish bags will continue to be emptied and collected on a Monday. Those with Northland Waste wheelie rubbish bins (see below) will also be emptied.
– Those property owners who have been using a Northland Waste wheelie rubbish bin will have been contacted directly by Northland Waste about options for their bin.
– Northland Waste will continue to provide Omaha with an additional rubbish collection service each week (on a Friday or Saturday) over the summer period. However, please note that this additional rubbish collection over the summer period, will only be for customers of Northland Waste, using Northland Waste’s wheelie rubbish bins (but no plastic rubbish bags).
– Northland Waste is offering three flexible options for its bins, designed to work alongside the new Council service (noting again that the additional rubbish collections for Omaha over the summer period are only available to those residents who have a rubbish wheelie bin from Northland Waste). The cost of a rubbish wheelie bin, with weekly collection, with Northland Waste starts from just $2.88 per collection for a 6 or 12 month plan; or from only $3.80 per empty for their Pay-per-collection – EcoPay service.
