Hi, everyone – the Council has advised that “we are having to close the pontoon section of the wharf at short notice due to repairs that have become urgent.
The urgency of the work is a result of an underwater inspection we carried out early last week. We suspected one of the four main anchor piles holding the pontoon in place had become unstable and that has been confirmed. We have brought forward our planned renewal project for the whole facility so replacement of the suspect pile can occur as soon as possible.
Work is expected to start next week – weather permitting. [Council is] keeping the nearby boat ramp open to lessen disruption. No issues with it at present.”
Further details are available in this notice Omaha Notification_Wharf_Renewal_Project 25062024 including the following:
“This project involves:
- Replacing the pontoon piles
- Refurbishing the connecting gangway
- Repairing the jetty and pontoon.
The construction period for this project will commence from week starting 1st July 2024, and will last approximately 10 weeks, weather permitting, with an anticipated completion date in late September 2024.”
