From our good friends at OBSLSC…..
SATURDAY 9th NOVEMBER 2024, 4.30pm-6.30pm
At Omaha Beach Surf Life Saving Club
57 Broadlands Drive, Omaha
Dear Community Members
The Omaha Beach Surf Life Saving Club (SLSC) patrols Omaha Beach during the summer and runs junior surf and surf sports programmes. We are now patrolling a wider geographic area, including patrols at Tawharanui over peak summer, and our junior membership has grown very significantly in recent years, such that we now need more space.
Refurbishment of the club is now due. As we consider the long-term future of the facility, we want to engage with our club members and our wider community to understand how a renewed surf club facility might best serve local needs. To provide some structure we will have a facilitator present.
The Omaha Beach SLSC Committee invites you to a workshop session at the Club at 4.30pm on the 9th November. This is an opportunity for you to share your ideas for the future of the Club. We will cover some of the potential opportunities and look at how they might be funded.
About the Club
Omaha Beach SLSC has 750 members who are involved in volunteer weekend and holiday lifeguard patrols and our Junior surf club program. The Club also facilitates week-day patrols during summer and maintains a rescue fleet and extensive equipment for surf programmes. The Club is also used as a training venue for lifeguards across the region. We have a growing Junior surf program running on Sunday mornings and highly engaged senior and junior surf sports teams.
We look forward to seeing you at our Club on Saturday afternoon.
